Concretus is invited to participate in the exhibition "Rest & Behold" curated by Hans Tan Studio, to be held from July to September 2010 at Changi Airport Terminal 2 in Singapore.

Concretus represents my interest in exploring the use of materials in unexpected ways. Concrete and steel, due to their connotations with the industrial, do not bring to mind the notions of comfort.

By creating a surface from linked concrete tiles which conforms to the contours of the body, combined with a geometric steel frame, Concretus is an attempt to break these connotations by being surprisingly comfortable.

Each tile was casted individually using silicone rubber molds made from a positive shape of MDF. These were then linked together using coiled wire and the resulting surface was tied to the frame using nylon strings.
